"Bring Your Own Boards" is a new program that has a lot of advantages for both of us. It makes
my life a little less complex by not having to start a new chair every time
a student comes for my "seminar" program AND it delivers a practically
finished rocking chair to a student at a very reasonable price!
What could be better than that??
The cost for this program is $2,500 if you bring your own boards.
If you want me to provide the wood I will charge you my costs, plus my cost
to pick up if required. No mark
up.
If you bring your own boards they should be dried to 9% moisture or less.
Also, the boards you bring should be flat with no twist.
You will use the jointer, bandsaw, hand planes and believe me you will get
plenty of sanding time in. I do not allow anyone to use my table saw. Please
do not ask.
Beyond that, bring a good sense of humor, a love of wood, an open heart, an
open mind, your own dust mask if you don't like the paper type and a couple
of interesting stories. Thus equipped we will have a great week together
making a beautiful rocking chair for you or someone you love.
At the end of the first week, if you would like to get more done on your
chair before you leave we may be able to continue on a daily basis for $400
per day if my schedule permits.
